SEM CASE STUDY: 549% Increase In Leads for a Junk Removal Company

549% Increase In Goal Completions

1,417% Increase in Organic Visitors

4,202% Increase in Total Keywords

The Problem

When We Love Junk came to Elevated Audience, they had a few problems:

  1. As a startup, the marketing budget was limited, and we needed to compete with national franchises
  2. The website was brand new and full of “cookie cutter content.”
  3. Their previous marketing agency was directing PPC traffic to an external landing page instead of their website
  4. Their website had a domain authority of 0 and ranked for less than 80 keywords
  5. Their current marketing company was not transparent and lacked communication skills giving them “the runaround.”

We Love Junk is a local junk removal company serving the Philadelphia area. Our team met We Love Junk’s owner only a few months after starting his business. He had invested a large fee with a full-service junk removal startup business to help him start his business. This included building his website, branding, business licenses, training videos, CRM setups, purchasing and financing his first truck, and more.

This same business was always supposed to handle his Google Ads (PPC), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and his Pay-Per-Lead call center. However, after a short time working with them, he realized that they were not being transparent and honest with the metrics and deliverables, there was no personal relationship, and every conversation went to a different department. Every question had to get bounced around to multiple people to get resolved.

Elevated Audience was the perfect fit for We Love Junk because we are a boutique SEO and PPC marketing agency. There would only be one point of contact who would always understand his business, goals, campaigns, and deliverables.

The Strategy

Our first steps were a complete SEO Audit, firing up a fresh Google Ads account, and allocating the budget appropriately. The Google Ads campaign would generate immediate leads to support the short-term growth, and the SEO campaign would support the long-term scalability of the business. A hybrid complementary approach is very successful and sustainable for new companies.

Our SEO Strategy

The SEO Audit process uncovered technical and on-page opportunities and a list of 1000+ relevant keywords. After optimizing the existing website to maximize page speed, we started to resolve cookie cutter and duplicate content issues. Unfortunately, while the company that built the website is an expert in junk removal startups, it also uses the same design and copywriting across all of the sites it creates.

After optimizing the existing website, we decided to target three groups of keywords:

  • Topically relevant informational keywords
  • Secondary location service area keywords
  • Local service type keywords targeting their primary location

Topically relevant informational keywords would be focused on building the overall relevance of the domain with keywords like “how to demo a bathroom,” “Philadelphia furniture removal guide,” and “garage cleanout tips.”

Secondary location service area keywords would be focused on targeting customers searching for junk removal in their local area like “Conshohocken junk removal,” “King of Prussia junk removal,” and “junk removal Doylestown, PA.”

Local service type keywords would be focused on targeting customers searching for junk removal in their primary location, such as “appliance removal Philadelphia,” “Philadelphia furniture pickup,” and “Philadelphia hot tub removal.”

Then, we took these keywords and determined which ones We Love Junk had the best chance to rank for based on their current Domain Authority and would provide the best immediate ROI based on search intent and carefully crafted new pages and articles.

Our junk removal SEO strategy included publishing a minimum of 2 new content assets for the first eight months of the campaign. Then, starting in month nine, we added a backlink acquisition strategy.

Our Ad Strategy

We walked the business owner through the process of setting up his own Ads account and sharing access with us. This makes sure he always has full control and ownership of his data.

Next, we built out individual ad groups for each service type to closely monitor the results. Then, as we added new service pages within the SEO campaign, we created new ad sets in the search campaign.

The Results

Let’s compare — July of 2021 to July 2022.

Or, in graphs:

Our SEO and PPC traffic has generated so much new traffic and growth, We Love Junk has just acquired its 3rd new truck in just 1 year of putting our SEO and PPC strategies into action.
